4 years ago, a stray female calico cat waltzed into a Boston Police Department’s SWAT HQ and decided to never leave. The only fitting name to bestow upon the cat, naturally, was SWAT. The department even made her their unofficial mascot. -

In November 2015 the cat vanished. Her friends from SWAT were heartbroken. "You pull into the driveway and hope she will come running across the parking lot," Officer Evon Burroughs told the Globe shortly after the cat disappeared. "She had become part of the family. Many feared she had been killed or had left the unit for good, but in January the cat returned. The story of Swat Cat continues, she loves to sleep on hoods of armored vehicles or curled up on officers' motorcycles. This is one badass mascot!
